Liberty & Buffalo nickel prices?
I would like to know what a good price to buy Liberty & Buffalo nickels would be. I was wanting to buy old 90% silver coins from a guy and he had some of these coins.
Considering they are in a decent quality, what would you pay. I am new to the PM's market (relatively), but one inevitably comes across other numismatic coins along the way. They can't be that bad of an investment. I think I might be able to get them for bargain basement prices, but I haven't haggled with the man yet. I am waiting for feedback from the local experts. Are these coins easy to sell? I looked at an online site that basically priced the cheapest of either at $2 or $3 each. This was not their sell price, only a free reference guide. If I took them to a coin dealer would he balk and say, "I'll give ya 10 cents each." I've never sold numismatic valued coins. Is there a big market for liberty & buffalo nickels? Thanks in advance. |
Re: Liberty & Buffalo nickel prices?
Severely worn Liberty & Buffalo nickels get only about 0.50 cents each if you're lucky.........
I'd stick with the 90% Silver coins so you have an 'edge' - silver value & numismatic value......... Mercury Dimes can be found easily at $1 each (if you find a lower price - snatch 'em up). Barber & Liberty Quarters run about $2.25 to $2.50 if you search 'em out. Silver halves run about $4.50 to $5 and the Walking Liberties are really popular which helps in re-selling........ Use the 10x FACE value and you can't go wrong |

Thanks AD. With the way nickel is going up, maybe it will be 10x face value for nickels soon. :haha:
